1° day - Santo Stefano di Sessanio

Arrival in Santo Stefano di Sessanio and check in at a very peculiar hotel. Santo Stefano di Sessanio belongs to the national park of Gran sasso and Monti della Laga and it was recognized as one of the most beautiful old villages in Italy. After having a stroll among the small roads of the village, admiring the Medici’s tower, the Saint Stephen’s church and other interesting architectural beauties, you will have lunch in a good local restaurant in order to enjoy some of the tipical Abruzzo dishes, and maybe you will try the famous lentils, that are cultiveted just here, in Santo Stefano di Sessanio.

Early in the afternoon departure towards barisciano in order to vsit a family company that produces wool from its own breeding farm.

In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

2° day - Rocca Calascio

Breakfast and departure towards Navelli, another beautiful village known for the cultivation of the so-called Abruzzo gold… the saffron, with certificate dop (protected designation of origin).

Guided visit of the village, caracterized by a magnificent staircase, small roads of unique beauty exalted by the presence of palaces, arches, small chapels, loggias from the renaissance and old doors to the village.

Lunch in a local restaurant where to taste tipical dishes of the Abruzzo tradition, or a simple risotto with zafferano from Navelli.

After this, departure towards calascio in order to visit the amazing fortress plunged in a unique landscape that fascinates any visitor.

From the fortress you can admire the main mountains that compose the appennino chain, and you will enjoy the peace and silence that dominate allround the hill. the sunset with its beautiful colors usually makes this place still more attractive and beautiful.

In the evening return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

3° day - Sulmona

Departure towards Sulmona, city located in the Peligna valley, near the Majella national park and known for being the native town of the roman poet Ovid. Sulmona is also known as the home of italian confectionery called “confetti”, very tipical italian candies, always given to the guests on weddings and other special occasions.

After visiting the ancient centre of the town with its beautiful xx settembre square or palazzo annunziata and its church, our guides will lead you to the Pelino’s museum that is just next to the confettis factory where yo can find a shopping section as well.

Lunch in a good local restaurant and in the afternoon visit to pope celestino v’s hermitage. In the evening check in in a local agritourismo, dinner and overnight.

4° day - Scanno

Breakfast and departure towards Scanno, ancient town known for its beautiful views captured by the cameras of the main and greatest photographers in the last century, such as Henry Cartier-Bresson and Mario Giacomelli.

Guided visit of the centre, rich in historic palaces, arches, logge and ancient gates as entrance to the city in the afternoon visit of the lake of Scanno where you can chill out in the peaceful beauty of the nature

Return to Sulmona, dinner at the hotel and overnight.

5° day: breakfast and return to each one’s own city
