PROGRAM
MONTE BRANCASTELLO

1° day

Arrival at the Hotel Fiordigigli, in the localty called Fonte Cerreto in the heart of Gran Sasso massif and excursion to the Brancastello mount. If you love peaks trips and contrasting colorful environments, this is the itinerary perfect for you.  The peak that goes from Vado di Corno and gets the Brancastello mount, splits into two very different slopes: the plateau of Campo Imperatore on one side, bright and crossed by a river with white gravels; the Teramano slope on the other, that, on the contrary, is very steep and marked by deep ditches and a dark wood. High and majestic, the Corno Grande, with its wildest and spectacular side, will be the right background to a very satisfying excursion.

Return to the hotel and enjoy the wellness center. Dinner and overnight.

CORNO GRANDE

2° day

Breakfast in the hotel and start of the excursion: CORNO GRANDE VETTA OCCIDENTALE.

This excursion leads us to the highest peak on the Italian Peninsula,the,"Corno Grande Vetta Occidentale", following an easy itinerary at an elevation of 3000 meters.

As long as weather conditions are good, the itinerary is within everyone’s means, anyway a good high mountain competence and a complete equipment are required. The environment is very similar to the Alpine one and the panorama is amazing as the view also involves the Adriatic Sea.

Return to the Hotel and overnight.

MONTE CAMICIA

3° day

Breakfast at the hotel and start of the excursion to the Monte Camicia (packed lunch provided by the Hotel).

Beautiful excursion, that through a wood of pines and firs, leads us to the peak of Monte Camicia (2564mt), the highest and last peack of the Gran Sasso oriental side. This mountain is characterized by a strong difference between its slopes; the southern one, that gives to Campo Imperatore side, is round and grassy, the northern one is rocky and irregular. In the Sella of Monte Tremoggia there is a famous balcony on the northern side of Monte Camicia, also known as “Eiger of the Appenine”, where you can enjoy a wonderful view, among the most impressive of the Gran Sasso massif. In this area it is very easy to meet chamoises or even to see a golden eagle flying over your head.
